We still can’t believe we have been so lucky to have been doing this for over 16 years! We were just two best friends who loved planning events and design, that took a leap of faith and started this business in 2009. We had no idea where it would go but we sure are happy that we hung on for the ride. Countless weddings and events later, here we are. We believe our attention to detail, organization, creativity, calmness, friendship and plain awesomeness have really driven us to where we are today. 

We were so happy to bring on Sara in 2012, Morganne in 2022 and Lindsey in 2024 to join our team, we have a fantastic crew! Additionally, we are always honored to be a part of each and every one of our clients lives, especially on such a big day. It's an amazing feeling to truly contribute to someone’s wedding and see their dreams come true. We love what we do!

Ashley speight, PMP //Owner - PRINCIPAL Wedding PLANNER 

Ashley is one of our lead planners and co-owner of It's Your Day. Ashley & Christina met in 8th grade history class, and have been BFF's ever since! Ashley's passion for event planning started back in high school as she held the position of Event Coordinator for her DECA club. After high school, Ashley attended WWU where she received a degree in Communication with an emphasis in Event Planning. She also received a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in 2023.

HOBBIES AND WHATNOT: Wine tasting, reading (I started a book club during the pandemic), traveling.

FAVORITE WEDDING CAKE ALTERNATIVE: DONUTS!

TRIVIA GENRE YOU COULD PROBABLY WIN AT: Late 90’s and early 2000’s music/pop culture.

TV SHOW I COULD WATCH ALL DAY: The Office followed by Parks & Rec.

FAVORITE ADULT BEVERAGE: Hmm...I would have to say a Moscow Mule or a crisp semi-sweet cider.

HUMAN OR FUR BABIES: I have a 6 year old daughter named Lennon.

FAVORITE LOCAL HANGOUT: Pretty much any of the Woodinville Wineries or Shubert Ho’s Edmonds restaurants!

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY: Typically the toasts, they can be so sweet, although sometimes my planner worry mode kicks in when people go on and on too long, getting us behind our timeline! A close second would be the dance party! You may find us dancing in the corner.

N*SYNC OR BACKSTREET BOYS? Gotta say N*SYNC! JT! Although I did see Backstreet Boys at the Tacoma Dome in 8th grade. I can hear it in my head right now...Everybody…(Yeahhh)...Rock your body….(Yeahhhh)!

WEDDING PLANNER BUCKET LIST ITEM: Something with a super elaborate entrance, like a helicopter or riding in on an elephant. Also, sign me up for any tropical destination weddings!

Sara haverstraw // lead Wedding Planner & DESTINATIONS

Sara is our Bellingham Based Planner at It's Your Day. Throughout her time at Western Washington University, while securing her Business Management degree, Sara was always coordinating, crafting or decorating for some upcoming festivity! Nowadays, she is in the travel industry on the side, but as a flight attendant for a major Seattle airline.

HOBBIES AND WHATNOT: Traveling, cooking, hiking, attempting to run, and crafting!

FAVORITE WEDDING CAKE ALTERNATIVE: It would have to be pie. We had pie at our wedding because I love ALL dessert, and my husband mostly just loves pie. 

TRIVIA GENRE YOU COULD PROBABLY WIN AT: DISNEY

TV SHOW I COULD WATCH ALL DAY: Outlander, Survivor or Bridgerton! 

FAVORITE ADULT BEVERAGE: Is it crazy to pair drinks with activities? If I was snowboarding, there would be no drink option besides a real cold Hefeweizen, fruit garnish is a must. Evening wind down- would be some red wine. Out for a celebratory dinner? I’d go for a Dark + Stormy. 

HUMAN OR FUR BABIES: #1 little guy is our son, Finn. He is 6 years old. But then, we welcomed Owen in 2022, and a 3rd son, Colin in August 2024. I’ve also got a chocolate lab named Hazel. She’s very spirited and will let you toss a toy for her until your arm falls off. 

FAVORITE LOCAL HANGOUT: Stonesthrow Brewery in Fairhaven! Also- Downtime Taps is fun- pour your own brews! 

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY: Sending everyone down the aisle! So much anticipation is leading up to this moment- and it’s finally arrived! Also- I just die when flower girls/ring bearers do a slow mosey down the aisle- is there anything better!? 

NSYNC OR BACKSTREET? Nsync- no contest!

WEDDING PLANNER BUCKET LIST ITEM? Oh man- I’m dreaming of a wedding with a waterfall backdrop, or maybe an elaborate winter wonderland. I’m thinking garlands, mulled cider, roaring fireplace, snow flurries outside, sledding after the rehearsal? Maybe a faux fur wrap?

LINDSEY LONG // ASSOCIATE PLANNER

Lindsey grew up helping her mom with weddings and events! She got married May 2024 and loves the beautiful chaos that happens on wedding day. When not assisting on weddings, she spends her days as a project manager for an educational non-profit!

HOBBIES AND WHATNOT: Traveling, wine or beer tasting, attending music and theatre events around Seattle, love watching soccer and basketball

FAVORITE WEDDING CAKE ALTERNATIVE: We had ice cream at our wedding and it was a huge hit! I also love doughnuts!

TRIVIA GENRE YOU COULD PROBABLY WIN AT: Disney, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings

Christina Somoff //Owner - Lead Wedding Planner & principal DESIGNer

Christina is the other owner of It’s Your Day Events. She is a lead planner as well as lead designer and our creative head in the expressions studio. She spent years being “crafty”, and watched as her hobby turned into her passion. She fell in love with planning weddings; she’s a big romantic! Christina has an extensive background in customer service, a BA in Social Psychology and a MA in Business Operations and Project Management.

HOBBIES AND WHATNOT: Hot Yoga, creative vegan cooking, graphic design 

FAVORITE WEDDING CAKE ALTERNATIVE: Cinnamon Rolls. Ooey... Gooey... Cinnamon Rolls. 

TRIVIA GENRE YOU COULD PROBABLY WIN AT: Movies, pop culture of the late 90’s

FAVORITE ADULT BEVERAGE: Oh, I’m gonna go seasonal with this one-  Summer - Skinny Margarita (Lime, a bit of orange, Agave, Tequila Blanco 100% Agave) , Fall - Whiskey Sour , Winter - Mulled Spiked Cider, Spring - Bubbles and citrus twists. 

HUMAN OR FUR BABIES:  Sophia is our almost 7 year old. We also have a son, Avram who is 3.5. We are a fur baby household. In Spring 2021, we adopted an Australian Shepherd puppy, named Roger Sterling.

FAVORITE LOCAL HANGOUT: Besides my couch at 8 pm on a weekday and Ashley’s house while our girls play - I’d have to say the Whiskey Shed at McMenamins in Bothell...with my husband.

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY: That look of relief when we walk into the bridal suite from the group. The couple knows, and we know...we’ve got this. Also, that moment, when we get to bounce out everyone and let the couple have their moment alone after the ceremony. Okay, ONE last thing, the amazing feeling of collaboration between the vendors on the wedding day. It is awesome to work with our go to vendors, and to partner with new vendors to bring together a fantastic day for our couple.

Morganne brisson// Associate Planner

Morganne grew up helping her mom plan weddings! A 2018 bride herself, she loves everything about weddings. A Snohomish county native ~ She is also a part time nurse!

HOBBIES AND WHATNOT: I love coffee, a good book and rainy days! Bonus points if they all happen at the same time. I also love baseball and strongly believe it's hard to find a better view or night out than at a ballpark!

FAVORITE WEDDING CAKE ALTERNATIVE: We had strawberry shortcake at my wedding so I may be biased, but it was definitely better than cake!

TRIVIA GENRE YOU COULD PROBABLY WIN AT: Gilmore Girls for sure, or maybe Sandra Bullock movies

TV SHOW I COULD WATCH ALL DAY: Gilmore Girls or Schitts Creek

FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING DAY: Ugh, too many! But I do love watching the faces of friends and family while the couple has their first dance. Lots of joy and happiness and many guests reminiscing on their own first dances. Its such a sweet time of peace and reflection during an otherwise busy and scheduled day!

NSYNC OR BACKSTREET? If we're talking childhood boy bands, it’s the Jonas Brothers every time. But if I had to choose it would by NSYNC no doubt.
